These earrings have the structure of a gyroid. A gyroid is an example of a triply-periodic surface—a shape that is equal to itself when translated in the x-direction, the y-direction, and the z-direction. The equation of this surface is sin(x)cos(y) sin(y)cos(z) sin(z)cos(x) = 0; you can see that if (x,y,z) satisfies the equation, then (x 2π,y,z) also satisfies the equation. This equation gives the surface a wavy structure in all three dimensions, so that it captures the light no matter from where you look at it. Also available as a necklace.
